At Clean Coasts Ballynamona, our mission is to protect and restore land and sea for nature. If you wish to donate land so it can be conserved forever, here is the step-by-step process:
1. Initial Meeting and Site Visit
We will meet you at the property you are considering gifting and walk the land together to understand your wishes and vision for its conservation.
2. Reflection Period
After the initial visit, there will be a 14-day reflection period to ensure you are fully comfortable before any costs are incurred.
3. Confirming Your Wishes
Once you decide to proceed, we will formally record your intention to gift the land for conservation.
4. Preliminary Conservation Assessment
A member of Clean Coasts Ballynamona will carry out a basic assessment of the property, focusing on its conservation potential and alignment with our nature preservation goals.
5. Legal Preparation
Our legal advisor will liaise directly with your solicitor to prepare the necessary legal documentation.
6. Transfer of Ownership
When all legal requirements are in order and both parties are satisfied, the legal transfer of ownership will be completed.
7. Full Ecological Assessment and Management Plan
Following the transfer, a qualified ecologist will undertake a comprehensive ecological survey, recording wildlife and habitats on the site. Based on this, we will create a tailored management plan to ensure the protection and, where possible, enhancement of biodiversity.
8. Permanent Protection for Nature
The land will be added to our Land Bank, where it will be preserved in perpetuity for the benefit of nature, wildlife, and future generations.
Important Notes for Donors
- Costs: Clean Coasts Ballynamona will cover the costs of legal work and ecological
assessments unless otherwise agreed. - Ongoing Stewardship: Once transferred, Clean Coasts Ballynamona will manage and
care for the land in accordance with our conservation objectives. - Perpetual Protection: As a registered voluntary non-profit, our constitution legally binds
us to safeguard land for nature and prohibits its sale or development for any purpose
other than conservation.
